Flumeq

...DESCRIPTION
A white powder.
COMPOSITION
1 g of the preparation contains the active ingredient:
Flumequine – 500 mg.
Excipients: Sodium carbonate.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Flumequine is a synthetic fluoroquinolone antibiotic.
Flumequine has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial action.
The mechanism of antimicrobial action is due to inhibition of the active enzyme of DNA-gyrase, which is a major factor in the catalysis of DNA synthesis in the nucleus of the microbial cells, resulting in rapid bactericidal effect.
Flumequine is active against gram-negative Е. coli, Salmonella spp., Proteus spp., Pseudomonas spp., Klebsiella spp., Aerobacter spp., Pasteurella spp., Bordetella spp., Haemophilus spp., Enterobacter spp., Vibrio spp., Cytophaga spp., and gram-positive bacteria of the genus Staphylococcus spp. and Diplococcus spp.
After oral administration, flumequine is rapidly and almost completely absorbed (80%)  in young ruminants. In adult ruminants, its absorption in the digestive tract is insignificant (about 10%). flumequine achieves the optimal therapeutic concentrations in blood plasma and tissues after 30 minutes after application.
After intake 12 mg per 1 kg of body weight, flumequine reaches its optimal therapeutic concentration in blood plasma and soft tissues within half an hour. The peak concentration in the plasma is observed in less than 2 hours.
APPLICATION
Calves (4 to 8 weeks old) and pigs: treatment of animals suffering from enteritis, salmonellosis, as well as respiratory diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to flumequine.
Poultry (broilers, young poultry, turkeys, geese, ducks): treatment against colibacillosis, salmonellosis, pasteurellosis caused by microorganisms sensitive to flumequine.
INDICATIONS
Orally with feed, drinking water or milk substitute, for 3-7 days, at the following doses:
Calves (4 to 8 weeks old): 0.5-1 g per 50 kg of body weight twice a day.
Pig: 0.5-1 g per 50 kg of body weight, or 100-200 g per 1000 liters of drinking water twice a day.
Poultry (broilers, young poultry, turkeys, geese, ducks): 200-400 g per 1000 liters of drinking water twice a day.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
